Eating Healthy Does Not Equal Eating Bland

Posted by:

When most people think of “going on a diet,” they usually think 1) Bland foods that don’t have any of their favorites included, 2) lots of rules and restrictions that don’t let you relax at any moment, 3) Something that cannot be maintained over the long term and ultimate failure.

Now, seriously, just stop right there.

It doesn’t have to be that way!

Wouldn’t you rather lose weight AND be happy?

Enjoy the foods you’re eating?

Have a treat now and then?

It’s certainly possible, and ...

The Fibrous Diet

Posted by:

The food industry has lately been having a “high-fiber diet” fad.  If you have shopped at a grocery store at all lately, you’ll find it added into many products.  High fiber orange juice, high fiber granola bars, high fiber noodles, high fiber cereals, and the list keeps growing! Much of this started a few years ago when the Atkins Diet was popular, and food manufacturers were looking for ways to keep down their carbohydrate counts. Adding fiber was a great ...

I Love You!

Posted by:

When was the last time you said “I Love You” to your body?

Was it this morning?

Yesterday?

Sixteen years ago?

Ever?

How often do you say “I love you” to those closest to you? Probably pretty often. We do it because it’s one of the strongest emotions we have.  Those three little words have power.  They tie us together.

And I know it tastes good. And I know when you ...

A carbohydrate is a carbohydrate, no matter where it comes from. If it’s a carbohydrate, what it does in your body is break down into sugar, which the body then absorbs into cells and uses for energy (your brain, for example, ...

Not Just the Calories

Posted by:

When it comes to weight loss, there’s a fact out there that is very pervasive.  In fact, we all know this little tidbit, even if we don’t follow all of the advice in all the magazines.  However, the fact in and of itself isn’t the whole story.

That fact is contained in this sentence: “It’s all about calories in, calories out.”

First off, let’s explain a calorie.  One food calorie is technically a kilocalorie (kcal). An actual Calorie is much, much larger.  ...

Planning to Succeed?

Posted by:

Last week’s goal was to exercise.  If you didn’t notice, I extended that goal, because I intend to have you focus on it as being one of the most important things you can do to lose weight.  Now, that is not the end-all to finding those skinny jeans or becoming lean, but it is top priority.

The second in command: Learning to use fruits and vegetables and linking them with high-quality protein.

Huh?

The human body was not designed to eat Tostitos, Hot ...
