Congratulations to the Winner of the LeanBody Transformation Contest!

After an amazing 500+ votes, the decision was made very clear! One person came out ahead of all the others for the best transformation.

First, though, I want to thank you for the time you took out of your day to participate: whether it was the wonderful comments that were left on the contestants’ entries, following along via Facebook or in class, or just voting- you made a difference! Thank you!

I hope you ...

How to Survive a Weekend and Still Lose Weight

Posted by:

It’s tough to keep going on your healthy eating plan on the weekend: your schedule is thrown off, everyone’s home OR you’re running all over the place, the idea of weekend is relaxation.  Put all this together, and all the wonderful work you feel you’ve done all week can pretty much get obliterated in 6 meals & 2 days (and one more night, if you start on Friday).

So, if you’re trying to attain your goal, what are you to do?  ...

Plus, there are probably a few benefits science can’t measure yet.  I say the last part because there’s so much experiential evidence ...

The Fibrous Diet

Posted by:

The food industry has lately been having a “high-fiber diet” fad.  If you have shopped at a grocery store at all lately, you’ll find it added into many products.  High fiber orange juice, high fiber granola bars, high fiber noodles, high fiber cereals, and the list keeps growing! Much of this started a few years ago when the Atkins Diet was popular, and food manufacturers were looking for ways to keep down their carbohydrate counts. Adding fiber was a great ...

Why Infomercials Lie

Posted by:

Yesterday, on my Facebook page, I posted this saying: “The faster you want to lose weight, the more intense you have to be, the more focused, and the more prepared.”

True quick weight loss is not something that can be easy- “3 minutes a day to rock hard abs!” or “This diet will have you losing 10 ...

It’s Not THAT Hard!

get lean

Written by my partners at Prograde Nutrition

If it were easy everyone would be walking around with a lean, sexy body.

But hey, it’s not in this world we live in today. Believe me, I understand all too well that there’s temptation around every corner.

Everywhere you look there’s fast food, junk food, chocolate, candy, ice cream, pizza…

And I know it tastes good. And I know when you ...

Calories In, Calories Out Debate: RIP

Posted by:

Okay, here I’m going to link you to a couple of scientific studies.  It’s up to you to read them, but they all encompass one thing: the debate on Calories In, Calories Out is going to be laid to rest. May it rest in peace.

Article One, published in Pharmacology Biochemistry and Behavior. You can read a further in-depth (albeit protein-biased) article looking at a similar study in layman’s terms here.

Not Just the Calories

Posted by:

When it comes to weight loss, there’s a fact out there that is very pervasive.  In fact, we all know this little tidbit, even if we don’t follow all of the advice in all the magazines.  However, the fact in and of itself isn’t the whole story.

That fact is contained in this sentence: “It’s all about calories in, calories out.”

First off, let’s explain a calorie.  One food calorie is technically a kilocalorie (kcal). An actual Calorie is much, much larger.  ...
