Focus: Deep Squat

Posted by:

Approximately 4 years ago, I saw a video on YouTube of a guy sitting for long periods of time in the most unusual position: a deep squat (that video is impossible to find now, or I’d post it).  He wanted to prove to others that you could sit in that squat for far longer than the usual “up on your toes” squat that many Americans do.  That was my introduction to the deep squat, which is extremely beneficial for hip ...

Mission: Possible

Posted by:

One of my clients has been seeing amazing results lately.  OP has gone from 243 pounds to 220 pounds  working in a small group environment with Carrannmor Fitness since last June.  Her current goal is due next Tuesday, so the push is on for her to really buckle down and make sure all her behaviors match what she wants to see ...

Location, Location

Posted by:

Oh, the Possibilities!

With this *beautiful* weather we’ve been having this week (note the tongue tightly held in cheek), a great question came across my mind.

Does location really matter to your workout?

In a sense, yes.  It does.

It should be a place where you’re comfortable, shouldn’t have to pick up a bunch of things before starting the workout, and shouldn’t “turn you off” visually.  It also helps if there’s a great support system built into it.

I’ve been ...

How to Beat the Mind Game

Posted by:

I received an email from a client recently that pretty much summed up the “I surrender” attitude.  In a nutshell, she had allowed the mind game to get the better of her when it came to her goals, and no longer wanted to try and attain them.

If we did this in other areas of our lives, the results would be pretty immediate.  Surrender to working on your marriage? Your kids? Your job? And what happens?  Life gets pretty devastating pretty ...

12 Days of Christmas Workout

Posted by:

Holidays can provide fun themes for workout styles, and we took full advantage of the holiday season at bootcamp last week!

The inspiration for last week’s bootcamp workout came from the song “12 Days of Christmas.” A special thanks to my friend Scott Colby, The Abs Expert, for posting his own great “12 Days” workout here and giving me the idea for the format!

When you do the workout, it ...

A New Thing

Posted by:

We all have issues with starting something new.  Whether it’s learning something for the first time, starting a new workout program, or looking at a New Year, there’s some trepidation and fear that goes along with it.  What if it doesn’t succeed? What if I fail?  What if…[insert your own fear here]?

The best fitness programs in the world have you changing 1-2 things at a time.  My favorite personal trainer buddy, Josh Hillis, loves to have his clients take one ...

A Halloween Workout!

Posted by:

The Halloween BOOtcamp held in Garretson and Edgerton was an absolute blast!  Big kudos to all who came with pumpkins, dressed in costume, and/or enjoyed the treats!

As this was a BOOtcamp, the main focal point was the awesome workout that obliterated all ghoulish fat molecules, leaving the participants as reanimated undead 🙂

The Workout:

Warm-up: (30 ...

A Halloween BOOtcamp will be held on Thursday, October 28. This BOOtcamp promises a killer workout, scary music, and great treats!  Costumes are highly encouraged (make sure you can move easily in your costume), and for an extra bit of fun, bring a small to medium- sized pumpkin!

The BOOtcamp is open to the public, but if you are not a usual Thursday class member, an RSVP prior to noon on Thursday is REQUIRED.  RSVP’s may be sent via the ...

Exercise Progression? What the?

Posted by:

LeanBody Bootcamps started a new 6-week session this week, which is always a fun time because it’s when I get to see the best part of group training- the “veterans” taking the “newbies” under their wing and giving them tips and encouragement, and the “veterans” get to see how far they’ve come by teaching the “newbies.”*

All my bootcampers are absolutely wonderful at supporting each other as fully as possible.  I will admit, I intentionally foster that environment, but it’s not ...
